VIVIDA-visual-storytelling-social-media

So you just got started with visual storytelling. You may have chosen any of these formats to tell your story:

Maybe you’re even combining these formats to tell a story with more dynamics.

The great news is that once you kick off your visual storytelling journey, you will have a lot of content to share with your ideal audience, potential clients and customers, as well as existing ones to deepen your relationship with them.

The bad news: you need to think of ways to deliver this content to them.

No matter who your audience is, there’s almost no chance they aren’t on social media. But to make your visual storytelling content appeal to them, you need to stand out and not only get eyeballs on your content, but also attract engagement and shares.

To make this happen, we put together a list of tools you can use to make your visual content more interactive, animated, and shareable. You’ll get some ideas on reusing your existing visual stories and grab your audience’s attention.

Let’s get started:

Apester

Apester is a great tool that helps you create and distribute highly interactive content that you can reuse across your website, share throughout your social channels, or even use it in Facebook instant articles.

The platform offers many types of story—which is what they call their content—ranging from entertainment, lifestyle, and tech templates, to five different formats you can choose from: story, poll, quiz, personality test, and interactive video.

You can really go with any of these as you’ll be able to add your visual content to them, but let’s have a better look into a video poll.

This is a great option when you want to get your audience involved in a question important to you. With a video poll, you can use an existing YouTube video and add it to the poll. This is what it looks like with one of my most recent YouTube videos:

Then, you can add questions and answers at specific moments in the video and get opinions from an already interested audience and really adjust the question to the moment in the video.

Apester helps you move passive viewers into an actively participating audience. You can then share that video on your website and social media, helping you provide an immersive storytelling experience!

Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark is Adobe’s free web app that helps you make videos quickly and easily. After you sign up for an account, click the ‘+’ button and select a new video. Then, you’ll have some templates to choose from:

For this example, Show & Tell is a good one to start with. In the screen that comes up next, you will see a simple video interface and a timeline below it. From here, you can add videos, photos, text, icons, and record your voice.

In the timeline below, Adobe Spark will prompt you to add different pieces of a story, like ‘About me’, ‘What it is’, ‘Why’, ‘Show it’, and so on—of course, you can follow these prompts, but you don’t have to. You can keep adding and reordering your video clips and photos as much as you want.

This is a great option for you if you are looking to share the visual content you already have, but you maybe want to put it in a new perspective, or add a different voice to it. Adobe Spark gives you themes and layouts to play with to your heart’s content.

Animoto

Similarly to Adobe Spark, Animoto helps you turn photos and video clips into a professional storyboard.

The really cool thing about Animoto is that you can pick the type of story you want to tell and the purpose of the video you want to create.

When you do that, Animoto shows you a set of storyboard examples, and lets you pick the one you like so you can replace the existing media with your own.

Then, you can make the video more dynamic with different styles, messages, and a combination of photography and video. You can create videos from teasers and product introductions to behind the scenes and bite-sized stories—and all of it with footage you already have, simply put in a new light.

Animoto isn’t free, but there is a free trial to help you ensure you’re not investing into it before you like it.

ThingLink

ThingLink is a tool that lets you annotate images and video, and the best thing about it is—it includes 360 and virtual reality content, too!

Getting started is easy. Once you sign up, you’ll see a quick introductory video, after which you’ll get access to ThingLink’s media library and try all the editing options yourself.

Adding annotations to your photos, videos and 360 videos is as easy as selecting the ‘Add tag’ button and choosing between image, video, audio, embed code from external applications, and a transition into another 360 experience.

This is a really powerful way to draw your audience into a superb, immersive experience and tell your stories in a new and innovative way. Sharing this content is as easy as using a link that ThingLink generates with you.

And again, you can then share it on your social media, in your emails, and wherever else your audience likes to hang out!

Wrapping up

Now you know how to make your visual content more engaging and grab your perfect viewer’s attention.

To make the most of these tools, get started now by picking one of your most recent pieces of content, like a prerecorded video or a live video, and selecting one of the above tools to repurpose it.

Happy storytelling!
